The UAE has a minister of happiness and has been voted one of the happiest countries in the world. Part of its happiness is owed to the capital, Abu Dhabi, that just keeps on growing with new and developing distinctive communities.
The name of this luxury island translates to “Island of Happiness” so it tops our list. Living in or visiting the island with mixed commercial, residential and leisure areas has made it Abu Dhabi’s cultural centerpiece. Be inspired by the international museums like the Louvre and Guggenheim or the local Zayed National Museum and Manarat.
If you want to sizzle by the beach enjoy it at Saadiyat with the bluest water. A nearby nature reserve will have you on long walks discovering the local animal kingdom.
Living in Saadiyat is pure indulgence with waterfront villas and apartments overlooking the sea. Families will be comfortable here with some of the best schools in the country and the New York University. Residents also enjoy high-end shopping experiences and weekends at the resorts and opulent hotels.
Al Reem Island
A natural island on the sparkling Arabian Gulf, Al Reem Island residents relish the calming sea that surrounds the villas, apartments and townhouses. It is a great choice for those who want to live near the heart of Abu Dhabi city but would like to avoid the busy lifestyle.
An affluent community with skyscraper buildings, you can expect your home to be brand new with the latest amenities and great services. The Sun and Sky towers are unique in their structure, constructed completely out of glass, while the Gate Towers are based of Britain’s Stonehenge.
Al Raha Beach
If you are the budding surfer, then Al Raha Beach is the ideal location. It is made up of three main communities, Al Muneera and Al Zeina is for families who enjoy their own private beach and yoga retreats, as well as pampering spots cluttered around the community. Al Bandar is populated by young couples and singles looking for a chic and relaxed environment by the marina. Residents are water sports enthusiasts and you will see many waterskiing on the beach. The nightlife in Al Bandar offers many international and local dining experiences and waterside lounges.
Al Raha Beach is close to Yas Island so there is entertainment for you and the kids. Abu Dhabi Airport is a 10-minute drive away and you can even use boat rides as transportation.
Another Island on the list because the UAE knows how to do them well. Yas Island is filled with pristine beaches and adventures at its leisure park. It is home to a world- renowned golf course as large as a city and you can have a bird’s eye view of it by flying over the whole island. Yas Island has an elegant marina filled with coastline restaurants that will bring you tranquillity at sunset. While you are stuffing your face with tasty dishes the kids will love Ferrari World and Waterworld. If you didn’t already know, Yas Island has hosted the Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009. Vroom Vroom!
You can still enjoy the quite life if you are living there as Yas Acres, Mayan, West Yas and Ansam will offer premier community living. You can choose to live in luxury beach houses or apartments, villas and townhouses with first-class views of the shore. West Yas is still in development and reserved only for UAE nationals, whom can also wakeup to the sounds water streaming by.
Al Khalidiya is known to for its old meets new atmosphere. Living here will not come cheap as it is populated by palace-like villas and its northern district runs across Abu Dhabi’s famous Corniche. As such, it is an energetic area with calm seas for a golden beach.
Shopping is big here as one of the biggest malls in Abu Dhabi is located moments away from the residential areas. You can also go into the local street markets and bargain your way to a local gem.
